BMC Primary Care is calling for submissions to our Collection, Advancing health equity through implementation science. Health equity remains a pressing challenge in global healthcare, particularly within primary care settings where disparities in access and outcomes are prevalent. This Collection aims to explore the integration of implementation science into efforts aimed at reducing these inequities. By examining how evidence-based practices can be systematically applied to diverse populations, we highlight successful strategies promoting equitable healthcare delivery. Contributions to this Collection should focus on the barriers and facilitators to implementing these practices in various community contexts, with a specific emphasis on the primary care landscape.
Recent advancements have shown promise in developing tailored interventions to improve healthcare access for underserved communities. Additionally, models of care delivery, such as telehealth and community health worker programs, have begun to demonstrate their effectiveness in bridging gaps in healthcare access. The ongoing discourse around health equity is critical for shaping policies and practices that prioritize inclusivity and fairness in healthcare provision.
We invite submissions that explore various aspects of research and practice, including but not limited to:
- Innovative strategies for health equity in primary care
- Barriers to healthcare access in underserved populations
- Role of implementation science in reducing health disparities
- Community engagement in health equity initiatives
This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
