As highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO), asthma stands as the most prevalent chronic ailment among children, exerting a substantial impact on their lives and those of their families worldwide. This curated collection aims to highlight current research on pediatric asthma, covering diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Topics included epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical assessment, innovative therapies, and management strategies. Additionally, research on exacerbating factors like allergens and environmental influences is encouraged.

New Content ItemThis Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities.

About the Collection

BMC Pediatrics welcomed for submissions to our Collection on Asthma in children.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), asthma is the most common chronic disease among children. This condition is affecting children and their families worldwide and has significant implications for their quality of life. This collection aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current research and advancements in the field of pediatric asthma, covering various aspects of diagnosis, treatment, management and prevention.

The topics of interest included epidemiology and risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical assessment and diagnosis, novel therapies and early intervention, monitoring and management strategies, emergency care, and education and self-management of asthma in children.

We also invited research that investigates the role of allergens, respiratory infections and environmental factors in exacerbating asthma in children. This collection aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 11, which aims to create sustainable cities and communities by improving air quality and sanitation conditions.
