We welcome research that examines meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises) alongside postural and movement-based approaches. Areas of focus include the mechanisms of action underlying yoga's therapeutic benefits and its effectiveness in complementing conventional medicine, from chronic disease management to its role in mental health. Studies on community-based yoga programs and their impact on population health are also of interest.

About the Collection

BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies is calling for submissions to our Collection on Yoga: from traditional practice to clinical application.

With its roots in ancient traditions, yoga has evolved significantly over the centuries, from a spiritual and philosophical practice to its establishment as a therapeutic tool in modern health care. Research into the clinical applications of yoga has shown promising results for a variety of health conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, and stress-related disorders.

This Collection seeks to explore the wide range of yoga practices, from traditional forms to contemporary adaptations, and their clinical applications.

With its holistic approach that integrates mind, body, and breath, yoga has demonstrated significant potential in addressing physical and mental well-being. By launching this Collection, we aim to deepen the understanding of yoga's clinical potential while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
