BMC Digital Health presents our Collection Digital health data privacy, security and trust. The rapid growth of technology in the healthcare industry has, in many respects, revolutionized healthcare delivery. However, it has also raised significant concerns regarding digital health data privacy, security and trust.  The aim of this collection is to provide a platform for knowledge-sharing and discussion on the issues surrounding the use of health data in the digital age.

Nariman Ammar: Illinois University, USA 

Dr Nariman Ammar is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Illinois State University and a Health Informatics Researcher at Ochsner Health. She has received her PhD in Computer Science from Wayne State University and her postdoctoral training in Health Informatics from the Oak Ridge’s Centner for Biomedical Informatics in the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. Her research interests include responsible AI for applications in healthcare, including building privacy-preserving, explainable, and unbiased Machine Learning. 

Le Sun: Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China                                                         
Dr Le Sun currently holds the position of a Professor in the School of Computer at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China. During her doctoral studies at Victoria University, Australia, her exceptional work was recognized with the prestigious Chancellor-citation Best PhD Award. Dr Sun also worked as a visiting scholar at Michigan State University in the United States. These experiences significantly benefited her academic journey and professional development. Her primary research interests include intelligent medicine and services computing.

BMC Digital Health is presenting our Collection, Digital health data privacy, security and trust. 

The rapid growth of technology in the healthcare industry, along with the utilization of big data analytics have created opportunities to revolutionize healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes. However, they also raise significant concerns regarding  data privacy, security and trust. Safeguarding digital health data is crucial to maintain patient confidentiality, protect against data breaches, and establish trust among stakeholders, for example healthcare professionals and patients. This collection provides insights, findings, and solutions to address the challenges and enhance data privacy, security, and trust in digital health.

We highlight various topics focusing on digital health data privacy, security and trust. Topics include, but are not limited to:
