BMC Public Health invites submissions to our new Collection, Promoting health equity among aging adults.
The aging population is a growing demographic worldwide, and with it comes a range of health challenges and disparities.
Promoting health equity among aging adults is a critical area of public health research, encompassing the intersection of social determinants, healthcare access, and the unique health needs of older individuals.
This Collection seeks to gather research that addresses the multifaceted nature of health disparities among aging adults, explores effective health promotion strategies, and the impact of social and environmental factors on the health outcomes of older populations.

Samar Al-Hajj, PhD, American University of Beirut, Lebanon

Dr Hajj is the Associate Director for Continuing Medical Education, at the American University of Beirut Medial Center (AUBMC), supporting and delivering medical training programs to clinicians and health professionals in Lebanon and the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Currently, she’s the founding Director for the Middle East and North Africa Program for Advanced Injury Research (MENA PAIR) Program, where she leads multiple injury research studies to assess the burden of injury morbidity and mortality in Lebanon and the MENA Region. She’s also the Director of the Injury and Concussion Awareness Recognition and Education (ICARE) program that aims to prevent injuries and concussions among school children in Lebanon and the region.
 

Alessandra Buja, PhD, University of Padua, Italy

Dr Alessandra Buja, PhD, MD, is Associate Professor of Public Health at the Department of Cardiological, Vascular, Thoracic, and Public Health Sciences, University of Padua. In particular, she has conducted important research on studies on health promotion and disease risk factors in all age groups, as well as on the evaluation of the quality and costs of cancer care services. She is currently involved in the national project “Ageing well in an ageing society. Building institutional, biomedical, and technological solutions for a successful ageing society in Italy”.
 

Himanshu Sekhar Rout, PhD, Utkal University, India

Dr Himanshu Sekhar Rout, PhD is working in the Department of A&A Economics, and associated with the RUSA Centre of Excellence in Public Policy and Governance, Utkal University, India. He has 25 years of teaching and research experience, eight books, and more than 80 research papers published in national and international journals to his credit. The teaching domain of Prof. Rout is Health Economics, the Economics of Education, Indian Economic Planning and Development, and Research Methodology. His main areas of research are Economics of Social Sector (Health, Education, and Gender), Development Economics, and IPR (GIs).

BMC Public Health invites submissions to our new Collection, Promoting health equity among aging adults. The aging population is a growing demographic worldwide, and with it comes a range of health challenges and disparities. Promoting health equity among aging adults is a critical area of public health research, encompassing the intersection of social determinants, healthcare access, and the unique health needs of older individuals.
This Collection seeks to gather research that addresses the multifaceted nature of health disparities among aging adults, explores effective health promotion strategies, and the impact of social and environmental factors on the health outcomes of older populations.

We welcome submissions that delve into various aspects of health equity for the aging. Key topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
