Srihatach Ngarmukos, MD, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (ASIA x THKS x AAA 2024 Organizing Committee Chairman, THKS President)

Dr. Srihatach Ngarmukos is a distinguished Orthopaedic Surgeon currently practicing at Chulalongkorn University Hospital, specializing in hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty, and shoulder arthroplasty, with special interests in computer-assisted surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He actively participates in academic activities and holds key roles in several prestigious societies, including President of The Thai Hip & Knee Society (THKS), and Executive Committee member of The Royal College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of Thailand (RCOST).

Hwa Sen Chua, MD, Sunway Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (MSHKS x ASIA x AAA 2025 Organizing Committee Chairman, MSHKS & AAA President)

Dr. Hwa Sen Chua is a seasoned Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery with a focus on Arthroplasty. His expertise encompasses adult hip and knee joint reconstruction, pelvic trauma management, and robotic-assisted arthroplasty, and also focuses on innovative techniques in joint and fracture management. He did the first robotic-assisted TKA in Sunway Medical Center and Malaysia. He is the President of the Malaysian Society for Hip and Knee Surgeons and ASEAN Arthroplasty Association.

About the Collection

The field of arthroplasty is in a constant state of evolution, with the Arthroplasty Society in Asia Annual Meetings in 2024 and 2025 acting as crucial platforms for sharing the latest research and clinical insights. This Collection, "Pioneering Research: Selected Works from ASIA 2024 & 2025 Annual Meeting", is dedicated to gathering and presenting the most remarkable and forward-looking research from these meetings. The aim is to not only document the recent advancements but also to facilitate the translation of novel concepts into enhanced patient care globally. The scope is broad, covering various aspects essential to arthroplasty.

The topics of interest for this Collection include, but are not limited to the following:

•    Surgical Innovations: Explore new minimally invasive and robotic-assisted joint replacement, optimize approaches (e.g., compare techniques, analyze robotic learning curves) for better patient recovery and fewer complications.

•    Implant Technologies: Develop and assess next-gen implant materials (bioactive coatings, durable ones) and designs mimicking joint biomechanics for enhanced osseointegration.

•    Clinical Outcomes: Deeply analyze long/short-term follow-ups of arthroplasty surgeries, focusing on patient function, pain relief, and implant survival (via cohort studies/meta-analyses) for evidence-based decisions.

•    Peri-operative Management: Research pre-op optimization, advanced anesthesia, and post-op rehab to ensure patient readiness, pain-safety balance, and faster recovery.

•    Patient-centered Research: Examine patient-reported outcomes, psychological aspects, and strategies for better patient education and engagement to understand patient's post-arthroplasty quality of life and empower them in care.

Also, we welcome you to submit the Abstract to the 11th Annual Meeting of Arthroplasty Society in Asia (ASIA 2025), which will be held during 14-16th August 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, combined with Malaysia Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons (MSHKS) and ASEAN Arthroplasty Association (AAA).
