Tropical Diseases, Travel Medicine and Vaccines is calling for submissions to our Collection on 'Extra baggage: Preparing the traveler with medical comorbidities.' This Collection aims to address the unique challenges faced by individuals with chronic health conditions who travel.
We invite transdisciplinary submissions that explore various aspects, such as flying with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, where we seek research on pre-travel assessments, in-flight management strategies, and post-travel care protocols. Additionally, we welcome studies on vaccination in immunocompromised travelers, focusing on guidelines, risk management, and innovative immunity enhancement approaches. Managing diabetes while traveling is another key area, and we encourage papers on maintaining glucose control abroad, telemonitoring technologies, and emergency management strategies. Furthermore, pre travel advice vaccination and prophylactic treatment in diabetes are subjects that we would like to highlight in our special collection. This Collection will also highlight the role of telehealth and digital health technologies, such as mobile health applications and teleconsultations, in managing chronic conditions during travel.
We seek contributions from various disciplines, including medicine, nursing, public health, travel medicine, and digital health, in the form of original research, reviews, or case reports. Importantly, we encourage contributions that emphasize patient representation and incorporate insights from patient associations.
