Dr Andy Boyd is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences at University of Illinois Chicago. He is also the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research in Computing and Data Initiatives/Chief Research Information Officer. He is also the Associate Chief Health Information Officer for Innovation and Research for the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Science System. For his contribution to the field of Health Informatics, he was awarded 2015 UIC Researcher of the Year in Clinical Sciences, Rising Star. Dr Boyd’s research focuses on “data simplification to improve clinical outcomes” engaging administrators, researchers and patients. His recent work has measured the vocabulary differences between physicians and nurses to highlight the challenges and benefits to team based care. Another area of data simplification to improve clinical outcomes is designing patient engagement through dialog agents in cardiology and oncology to improve health behaviors.
Mariusz Duplaga, MD, PhD, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Poland
Prof Mariusz Duplaga is the Head of the Department of Health Promotion and e-Health at Jagiellonian University Medical College, Krakow, Poland. He currently holds certifications in internal medicine, respiratory medicine, and public health. He was involved in several international and national projects focused on medical informatics, telemedicine, and e-health, as well as other medical sciences and public health topics. The main research topics include health and e-health literacy, determinants of acceptance of e-health and telemedicine, society’s attitudes to technologies included in the concept of health 4.0, and their potential for progress in medicine and public health.

Advancing our collective understanding of big data in digital healthcare holds the key to addressing some of the most pressing healthcare challenges of our time. Predictive analytics using patient data have enabled early detection of diseases, leading to more timely interventions and improved patient outcomes. Additionally, data-driven research has uncovered novel treatment pathways and identified previously unrecognized risk factors, revolutionizing the way healthcare is delivered. Looking ahead, further exploration of big data's potential in digital healthcare may pave the way for truly personalized medicine, where treatments are tailored to an individual's unique genetic makeup, lifestyle, and health history. Moreover, it could empower patients with real-time health insights, fostering greater engagement and proactive self-care. By continuing to push the boundaries of knowledge in this field, we can anticipate a future where healthcare is not just reactive but predictive, preventive, and patient-centric.
