About the Collection

Advancing our collective understanding of cardiorenal diseases in diabetes is crucial, as these conditions represent a significant burden on global health systems and contribute to high rates of morbidity and mortality. The interplay between diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and chronic diseases such as kidney failure and coronary disease underscores the need for innovative treatment strategies. Recent advances, including the development of novel pharmacotherapies and improved management protocols, have shown promise in reducing cardiovascular mortality and mitigating complications like atherosclerosis and insulin resistance.

Looking ahead, continued research in this area holds the potential for groundbreaking discoveries that could transform patient care. Future advances may include personalized medicine approaches, enhanced biomarkers for early detection, and novel therapeutic interventions that target the underlying mechanisms of cardiorenal diseases. Such progress aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which emphasizes the importance of reducing mortality from non-communicable diseases.

We invite researchers to contribute to this special Collection by submitting original research and review articles that explore the complexities of cardiorenal diseases in diabetes. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

- Mechanisms of insulin resistance

- Novel pharmacotherapies for kidney protection

- Cardiovascular outcomes in diabetes

- Atherosclerosis and its implications

- Management strategies for chronic kidney disease

- Lifestyle interventions in metabolic syndrome

- Biomarkers for early detection of complications

- Health disparities in diabetes management
