Submission Status: Open   |   Submission Deadline: 5 December 2025

BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth is calling for submissions to our Collection on Placenta accreta spectrum disorder.

This Collection aims to highlight research on placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorder in order to improve maternal and fetal health outcomes. PAS defines a condition of varied abnormal placental attachments to the uterine wall. These conditions are increasingly common, especially among women with a history of intrauterine surgeries. Understanding the pathophysiology, risk factors, and clinical outcomes of these disorders is vital for improving maternal and fetal outcomes.

New Content ItemThis Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.

About the Collection

BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth is calling for submissions to our Collection on Placenta accreta spectrum disorder.

Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorder is characterized by atypical attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall. This spectrum of anatomical disorders is becoming more prevalent, especially among women with prior cesarean sections or uterine surgeries. It is crucial to understand the underlying mechanisms, risk factors, treatments, and clinical outcomes of these disorders to improve maternal and fetal outcomes.

The Collection invites researchers and clinicians in fields including maternal-fetal medicine, obstetrics, pathology, and perinatology, to contribute research that explores topics including, but not limited to, advancements in risk assessment, diagnostic methods, pathology and mechanisms, treatment and management, and preventive strategies, ultimately improving maternal and neonatal health.
