BMC Public Health is calling for submissions to our Collection on Electronic cigarettes: emerging trends.
The rise of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) has transformed the landscape of tobacco consumption, particularly among younger populations. As vaping continues to gain popularity, it is essential to explore the implications of this trend on public health. This Collection aims to investigate the diverse factors that influence e-cigarette use, including marketing strategies, flavor preferences, and the demographic characteristics of those who use, among other factors.
Understanding the health risks associated with e-cigarette use is critical to inform the development of effective public health prevention and intervention efforts. Recent studies have highlighted potential long-term effects of vaping, including respiratory issues and cardiovascular risks, as well as the addictive nature of nicotine in flavored e-cigarettes. Advances in research have also begun to shed light on the diverse patterns of e-cigarette use among adolescents, revealing concerning trends that necessitate further investigation. Furthering this knowledgebase is essential for informing regulatory frameworks and educating the public about the risks of vaping.
