About the Collection

BMC Pediatrics invites submissions to our new Collection, Lifestyle habits and their impact on children and adolescents’ health.

Lifestyle habits, including diet and nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and social interactions, can significantly influence the physical, cognitive, and mental development of children and adolescents. Addressing these habits in youth is critical, given the various health challenges faced by this population, such as overweight and obesity, mental health issues and mental illnesses, and chronic diseases. The lifestyle choices available to young people are evolving with society, necessitating ongoing research into emerging lifestyle habits and their impact on health outcomes. Understanding these dynamics is essential for developing preventive measures and promoting healthier choices among young people.

The collection seeks the latest advances in research that explore the prevalence of various lifestyle habits in child and adolescent populations and the impacts of these habits on their biological maturation, physical health, mental well-being, cognitive development, and academic performance. We are also interested in research that sheds light on strategies to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors among the youth.

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
