This Collection invites contributions focused on the integration of eHealth, mHealth, and personalized health systems. Researchers are encouraged to submit studies highlighting innovative approaches to improving primary care through technology, examining the impact of digital health records, patient engagement strategies, and emerging trends in digital healthcare delivery.

Anna De Simoni, MBBS, PhD, MRCGP, Queen Mary University of London, UK

Dr Anna De Simoni is a clinical academic in Primary Care at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London. At the institution, she co-leads the Centre for Primary Care. Her work focuses on evaluating digital and social interventions to improve self-management and medication adherence in long-term conditions. She utilizes systematic reviews, patient involvement, and qualitative and quantitative methodologies. She leads AD-HOC, a NIHR-funded programme to carry out an interdisciplinary programme to examine the relationship between online peer support and patient health outcomes in primary care. 

Pramendra Prasad Gupta, B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal

Dr Pramendra Prasad Gupta is an Additional Professor in the Department of General Practice and Emergency Medicine at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS). Additionally, he serves as a Medical Coordinator in the eHealth and Telemedicine Program of BPKIHS. He has a keen interest in digital health and chronic diseases. 

 

Wenhua Wang, PhD, Xi’an Jiao Tong University, China 

Dr Wenhua Wang received training in public health, health policy and management in China, Canada, and Australia. Before taking the position as an Associate Professor at School of Public Policy and Administration at Xi’an Jiaotong University, he had been the Steinberg Global Health Postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University and he was also awarded the Health System Impact Fellowship by Canadian Institute for Health Research. His research aims to leverage knowledge of public policy, organization management, and implementation science as well as digital technology to build primary health care-based, high-quality resilient health system. 

Apichai Wattanapisit, MD, Walailak University, Thailand 

Dr Apichai Wattanapisit is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the School of Medicine at Walailak University in Thailand. His research spans a broad range of topics, including family medicine, primary care, digital health, physical activity, and health promotion. He has published extensively in these areas and serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals, such as BMC Primary Care, International Journal for Equity in Health, and Malaysian Family Physician

The rise of digital primary care is transforming the landscape of healthcare delivery, integrating technology into everyday practices to enhance patient outcomes and accessibility. Digital health tools, such as telemedicine, mobile health (mHealth) applications, and electronic health records, are increasingly employed to streamline communication between patients and healthcare providers, facilitate remote monitoring, and personalize care.  

The significance of digital primary care lies in its ability to address various healthcare challenges, such as increasing patient engagement, improving health literacy, and reducing barriers to care, especially in underserved communities. Recent advancements in eHealth technologies have made it possible for patients to access timely information and services, thus fostering a more proactive approach to health management. Furthermore, ongoing research demonstrates the effectiveness of personalized health interventions powered by digital platforms, leading to better clinical outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. Looking to the future, continued research in this field may yield new solutions to enhance healthcare accessibility and equity. 

We invite submissions that explore various aspects of primary care in the digital age, including but not limited to: 

  • Evolving trends in eHealth technologies 
  • Impact of mHealth on patient engagement 
  • Personalized health approaches in digital care 
  • Integration of digital health records in primary care 


All manuscripts submitted to this journal, including those submitted to collections and special issues, are assessed in line with our editorial policies and the journal’s peer review process.
