BMC Psychology sought research and practice evidence on mental health interventions in diverse educational contexts, with a focus on cross-national perspectives. Submissions were invited to explore the effectiveness of interventions, the impact of cultural diversity, and the role of educational institutions in promoting mental wellbeing, aiming to inform evidence-based strategies for supporting the mental health needs of students and teachers in diverse educational settings.

Aleksandra Maria Rogowska, PhD, University of Opole, Poland

Dr Aleksandra Rogowska is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Psychology at the University of Opole. She also serves as an Editorial Board Member for BMC Psychology. Her studies concern various dimensions of mental health and well-being among emerging adults in times of crisis.

Dr Rogowska conducted international research on the mental health of university students during the COVID-19 pandemic, collaborating with researchers from Colombia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Turkey. Her publications also cover the mental health of Ukrainian students during the Russian invasion. Her scientific interests oscillate also around individual differences in personality, sports, and health behaviors, including physical activity, orthorexia, and substance use.

About the Collection

BMC Psychology welcomed submissions to our Collection on Cross-national research and practice evidence for mental health interventions in diverse educational contexts.

This Collection gathered research and practice evidence on mental health interventions in educational contexts, focusing on the diverse needs of students and teachers across different cultural and educational settings. Submissions were encouraged to explore the effectiveness of interventions, the impact of cultural diversity on mental health outcomes, and the role of educational institutions in promoting mental wellbeing.

Recent advances highlight the importance of considering cultural nuances and diverse educational environments when designing and implementing mental health interventions. Additionally, research has emphasized the need for collaborative approaches involving educators, mental health professionals, and policymakers to address the unique challenges faced by diverse student populations.

Continued research in this area holds the potential for identifying best practices in mental health interventions, developing culturally tailored strategies for promoting mental wellbeing in educational settings, and fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments for students and teachers from diverse backgrounds.

  • Intersectionality and mental health: addressing the unique needs of students and teachers from diverse backgrounds
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of peer support programs and mentorship initiatives in promoting mental health in educational settings
  • Exploring preventive measures promoting mental health and resilience in educational settings
  • Assessing the impact of parental and community involvement in mental health interventions within educational environments
  • Addressing mental health challenges during transitional periods in education, like moving from primary to secondary school or transitioning to higher education
  • Mental health interventions during crisis situations in educational settings, such as war, natural disasters, or emergencies
